The Cash Buyeth, Clumbiness Doth Take it Away..
I have been saving my little pennies for a new computer desk for a while now, and the one I wanted came on sale, so today after work, I hopped in my little tinker-toy of a car, and with debit card bravely in hand, bought my new desk. Rather than be patient, and wait for the free delivery, the poor Staples boy helped me push and squeeze my new desk into my car. Believe me, if you saw my car, and you saw the size of the package we managed to get into it, you would think it was an impossible fit, but get it in, we did, much to the stares and laughter of many a passer-by.
I got home, and have been putting this baby together since approximately 3:00 this afternoon (It's currently 9:30 pm, if that gives you any idea of my talents at assembling things that require me to use a screwdriver...)
So, now I have a cracking new lovely desk with drawers, and shelves, and cubby holes galore, and a keyboard tray that is big enough to actually fit my ergo keyboard AND my mouse on at the same time! Oh Bliss!!! BLISS, I tell you!
Or it was, until we had set up my computer, and plugged everything in, and was about to move it back against the wall, when hubby we pushed the shelf instead of the base, and dislodged the shelf - which then came crashing down on my monitor - my monitor that I got for my last birthday 8 months ago - and the very same one that replaced my last monitor, which I shattered by attempting to kill a fly that had landed on my panel....
Good news, the monitor is fine... the bad news is the base is broken. Splintered would be an adequate description of it, actually. Shattered into teeny tiny pieces. I now have my monitor balanced precariously between 4 DVD's and leaning against the back of my new shiney table.
I will not say my favorite four letter work.
*Sigh* does anybody know if it is possible to have a base replaced? If not, I'm afraid I'm stuck with this broken, precariously balanced monitor for a very, very long time.
Why do I have such bad luck with monitors??? WHY???
*headdesk*

Join the group, offer free stuff, ask for free stuff...lots o folks want to get rid of old monitors, all you gotta do is pick up, and you can get the parts you need.
Good luck!
Thanks! I will check it out and hope for the best!
I think we may be able to salvage it with a wall base. All is not lost.....

boo - for stupid things we have to put together ourselves!
yay for husband helping!
boo - for the squished monitor. *hugs*
yay for posting! *loves*
Thank you!
*hugs*
Fandom sushi for the win!
I say, go to Staples (or another store that sells them) and ask. You can't lose anything for asking, and maybe they'll have a suggestion.
*hugs*
I donated my last monitor to a guy who collects them for parts, and he was the first person I emailed. I just heard back saying he could likely fix it!
*Crosses fingers*
If that fails, then we could wall mount it!
All is not lost!
You know the weirdest thing? I'm not rough with my things at all - usually my belongings last for years and years... it's just monitors!!! I'm like a monitor serial killer, or something!

You forum very nice nmbd
Shit indeed! It would be so much worse if the actual monitor were broken, though. I'm sure there'll be a way, either a replacement base or a construction of your own making.
Otherwise there are wall mounts!
All is not lost.
Looks as if you've worked it out.
I would have said the word. Repeatedly.
When I posted that, I was at my darkest hour of monitor despair!
*crosses fingers*
That's not really helping, is it? Um. It could be worse...?
*eyes newish computer that's sat in the box for 1 year and 7 months because she's too chicken to put it together*
*pats you*
