the 7 things about me meme...

I don't usually participate in meme's but since I've been tagged more than once, I thought what the H....

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

1. I'm ambidextrous. I can do everything with both hands and quite often do - it depends how my desk is set up whether I will write with my left or my right hand.

2. I learned how to ride a horse before I could walk and had my first horse at age 4. I've competed both in the English ring (hunter/jumper) and the Western ring (rodeo's - barrel racing, pole bending and the flag race to be exact)

4. One of the best jobs I ever had was as a street vendor - selling jewelery. It's amazing what you learn from just sitting on a street and watching shit go down.

5. I once worked as a nanny for a once A-list movie star (sadly he isn't A-list anymore)

6. I have a Jeep that leaks. I once discovered mushrooms growing under the drivers seat.

7. I've lived in four countries so far.

There, that's pretty much the best I can do on such short notice...

I'm going to tag: [info]empathic_siren, [info]sansa, [info]starcrossdkayla, [info]roedhunt, [info]alisanne, [info]stageria and [info]zazil_z guys, no pressure, do the meme only if you want to...

I don't know which one to say is awesome first! All of those (well, except maybe the mushrooms in the car : ) sound like really interesting experiences. I can't imagine how many stories you have from all of them!
oddly enough, the mushroom growing under the seat of my car is among the funniest stories of all...
oh I imagine it's quite the entertaining story -- I just wouldn't want it to happen to me : ) I have enough problem with my car already; introducing fungus to the environment is not one I'm keen on having.
LOL Yes, well I was plenty damn pissed when I discovered mold and mushrooms under my seat!

Thankfully now I have a garage and underground parking where I work - so now it isn't out in the rain long enough to get wet.

Other than that, it's been a pretty damn good car!
Mushrooms *giggle* were they the smokable kind *giggles some more*

I remember way back when I was at college, I parked my car for a few days and left for vacation. When I got back i had an ant bed in the trunk. It was a nightmare.

Your journal layout is my all time fav *wants it sooo bad*

Hugs

LOL yes, the mold was a lovely blue color. Hubby and I ammonia'd the shit out of it, and it's been good ever since.

As far as smoking them, I'm not sure if I'd risk it - it wasn't like any magic mushroom I'd ever seen.

I'm spoiled re my journal, aren't I? Articentropy created the art and asumac created the layout.
I lurve it so much!!!
you are even cooler now! :D
. It's amazing what you learn from just sitting on a street and watching shit go down.
dude! So true! I love people watching (when they don't know you're doing it!)

can I ask who you were a nanny for (or at least beg you for hints?)?
Let me tell ya, girl, sitting on Granville Street you sure get to know the who's who. I worked Granville and Gastown. I even got to know all of the undercover cops who were dressed as tourists.
And at the time, it was unbelievably good money.

Granville and Gastown?
Wow! You WERE right in the thick of it. I always wondered how safe it was doing that job. Were you ever robbed? I bet you met some interesting tourists and locals. I can't even wrap my head around that! I worked in a mall for a year once, and that's an interesting culture too, but nothing like downtown on the street! wow.
Yeah, I had some interesting encounters. The biggest thing were the junkies. They were always trying to steal. And the tourist were always wanting a fair trade on their dollar, which when you are dealing with cash from your wallet, it's not so easy to do.

As far as having money robbed from me, street vending automatically puts you in the realm and subculture of the street. Believe it or not, the dealers, the couriers and other vendors would watch out for you. Even the street kids, to an extent, had your back. I remember having some street kid run after some wanna be punk 10 year olds who stole a pipe from my table. They were dragged back crying because of the threats of violence that were being lobbed at them.

Gosh, I could tell you a million little stories, some of them hilarious, some not so funny... but one thing was certain, it was never a dull day's work.

That's before every single store started selling silver rings and pendants. Now the money is quite shit, and many of the vendors have sold up.

I also used to make and sell little beaded flower chokers. They were so big the year that first started making them, that I couldn't make them fast enough. I sold so many that they funded a six week trip to New Zealand.

They were the best of times, and oddly enough, the worst of times as well... but it was, and will always be, in my memories as "an experience"
WOW!
We'll have to have another vist. I'd like to hear more! that makes sense about everyone looking out for each other down there. I'm sure that little guy thought twice about swiping anything elese after being dragged back to your booth. heh.
Did you have a covered space, or were you constantly running from the rain? I remember the vendors who'd sit out there and make their jewelery right there--and you're right, there were a lot more back then than there are now. Come to think of it, I don't see many street sales anymore, except for food.

NEW ZEALAND? dude, that sounds brilliant! *dreams*
